Every November, the Illinois Association of School Boards recognizes the outstanding efforts of the elected school board members across the state. United Superintendent Tom Hawkins shares the seven individuals serving the United School District:
“Alex Baker is one of ours. Hank Shimmin, Jill Jenks. Scott Campbell is our Board President right now. Holly Tharp. We also have Joel Johnson and Josh Oaks, those are our seven. They do this because they want to have an affect and do a positive change for schools.”
Additionally, the United Board of Education went over their first draft of the tentative tax levy. A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for the United School District will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 6 pm at United Intermediate School.
