Even with the current federal government shutdown, state agencies such as the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District are still able to operate programs as normal. However, there are some limitations to what can be done, shares Shawnee Sheehan, Resource Conservationist.
“We run through a cooperative agreement with NRCS, which is our federal partner. So, while they are shut down, we are not able to utilize a lot of our equipment because it’s all federally owned,” explained Sheehan. “So, sadly, we can’t use things like our truck, our survey equipment, or our computers because those are all provided through the federal agency.”
During the government shutdown, you can contact the district by visiting their website at WarrenCoSWCD.com, on Facebook, or by calling the district cell phone at 309-299-5171.
