Knox County 4-H’er Ellis Rogers was recently named runner-up for the 2026 4-H Youth in Action Awards. Rogers, a ten-year member of the Williamsfield Town and Country 4-H Club, was recognized for her achievements and leadership in equine sciences.
In her application, Rogers shared that she focused on her informal leadership roles.
“The application is based on the role that I’ve served from a leadership perspective within my projects. So I went through and talked about the Knox County Horse Team, which I joined in 2015, where I was able to explore equine science while still being in elementary school. I kind of got in super early, and it really helped me develop a passion for learning as well as animal science,” said Rogers. “I highlighted the ‘big sister’ role that I serve on this team. I don’t have a formal leadership title, but I really try to fill those big sister shoes for our junior members and uplift their passions in equine science.”
The 4-H Youth in Action Awards recognize the impact that youth have on their communities across the country. Rogers was one of twelve finalists selected for the national honor.
