Warren County has been awarded a 4,451 dollar grant that will be passed on to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Building and Grounds Chairman Sean Cavanaugh explains how the funding will be used.
“That’s from the Illinois Public Risk Fund grant program. It’s an annual thing. We used to split it between the highway department and the sheriff’s department, but the highway department is funded differently and typically doesn’t go without, whereas the sheriff’s budget is a little more strict. So when we get this grant, we usually pass it on to the sheriff’s office. It’s been used for ballistic shields, equipment, bulletproof vests, things that help deputies while out on the road.”
