MCAP’s Downtown Streetscape Maintenance Contract with McVey Landscaping Begins in 2026

During the Downtown Monmouth Streetscape Beautification project, lead contractors, Porter Brothers, hired McVey Landscaping as a subcontractor to do the install for all the landscaping and turf areas. Beginning January 1st, 2026, McVey Landscaping will begin their contract with the Maple City Area Partnership of maintaining the downtown sidewalks and landscape, reports Owner Jimmy McVey:

“I have signed a contract with MCAP, not with the City of Monmouth. My contract actually takes effect to maintain everything downtown January 1 of 2026. That is going to entail cleaning the sidewalks off for snow. For the first two years we are going to put sand down on the sidewalks because it is new concrete and then after that we will follow up with salt to maintain for any packed snow or ice. The sand does help with traction; it is not a deicing agent, so you still have to be a little bit careful walking around downtown if you do see some ice,” McVey states.

“We will maintain all the turf areas, the landscape beds, everything from there, and hopefully we will re-mulch everything this spring, just to spruce it up and freshen it up,” adds McVey.
