McDonough District Hospital and their Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Department have opened a new Sports Performance Center in Macomb to expand strength conditioning and training opportunities for young athletes and adults, explains Director of Business Strategy Patrick Osterman:

“Where our North Lafayette Clinic is in Macomb, we are going to be doing what we are calling Blue Chip Youth Speed and Conditioning Training. Tim Piper, he was a professor at Western, he came on board with us right about a year ago now, then also our Director of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Phyllis McLouth, they have been doing a great job on developing programs. We actually did a little mini renovation. We have an indoor sprint track, kettlebells, got the dumbbells, bench press, squat racks, the whole works. Grades sixth and up, so really about age eleven and twelve can use this,” shares Osterman.

“We know there are so many travel sports teams in the area, they can do some specific sports training. In addition to the youth speed and conditioning training, we are also going to be doing some adult classes. Dr. Piper is going to be doing a Power Lunch and a lot of specialized, personalized training programs,” Osterman adds.

For more information or to sign up for a class at the Sports Performance Center, call the MDH Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center at 309-836-1616.
