Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg is in the middle of a multi-phase Emergency Department expansion. Carrie McCance, Public Relations and Communications Coordinator at OSF HealthCare, shares what the project will include.
“It’s really designed to improve patient flow and overall experience. We really saw the need to expand our emergency department, especially with the closure of Cottage. This should really help our patients. The project includes a new emergency waiting room, a redesigned registration area. We’ll have two new triage rooms that will help assessments go quicker, and then we’re also adding six new emergency department exam rooms and a new nurses station.”
The project will add more than 7,000 square feet to the Emergency Department and is expected to be completed in April of 2026.
