In the upcoming Primary Election in Illinois, Warren County residents will elect a new sheriff. One of the four candidates that will appear on the ballot, Steve Thompson, who has been with the Monmouth Police Department 21 years now, shares his goals if elected the next Warren County Sheriff:
“First, I think it is important to start internally. I believe if you have good morale, you will get the best and most, effective employees. I would like to have each employee set their own personal goals and see if I can help them achieve those goals. Second, like all the candidates, I also want to see us get a School Resource Officer for the county schools. As a father of three children who are currently or will be attending school, I have the most invested interest in trying to get this done. I am also looking to get 24-hour coverage and quicker response times to the calls. I would like to see smaller communities get more coverage. I would also like to closely work with facilities that deal with the elderly, so I can help them in preventing seniors from falling prey to scams.”
Primary Election Day in Illinois is Tuesday, March 17th, 2026.
