The Knox County Board of Health is currently seeking applications from licensed physicians to fill the remaining term on the Board of Health, with the term concluding in June 2028. After which time, the provider could be recommended to remain on the Board of Health for a full-term of three years. It is a State of Illinois requirement that the Board of Health have two (2) licensed physician members serving at all times; a licensed physician may live and/or works in Knox County and serve, or a retired physician with an active medical license who resides in Knox County is also eligible.
The Board of Health consists of nine members, all appointed by the Knox County Board. Board members are expected to attend a monthly meeting, held on the second Thursday of each month. Meetings typically last between one and one-and-a-half hours. The Knox County Board of Health is integral for Knox County to have a strong public health department guiding an even stronger public health system.
