MONMOUTH, ILL. (01/13/2026) The Monmouth College football team has announced that Ryan Kaltenmark has been hired as the new offensive coordinator.
“I have known Ryan for several years competing against him while he was at Cornell,” said head coach Chad Braun. “I tried to hire him a couple of times for open positions on our staff but it never worked out. We are excited to have him take the reins of an offense that averaged 47 points per game last year and returns nine of 11 starters.”
Kaltenmark comes to Monmouth from Benedictine University (Lisle, Illinois) where he served as the offensive coordinator in 2025. The Eagles were 7-3 in the NACC this season, averaging 31.6 points per game and 359.7 total yards per game. The offense was balanced with 181.2 yards per game on the ground and 178.5 through the air. The Eagles quarterbacks completed 63.7% of their passes and finished the season with 19 touchdowns to just two interceptions while averaging 12.4 yards per completion. On the ground, Benedictine ran for 5.6 yards per play and the offense scored on 84.4% of their trips to the red zone.
Before joining the Eagles last season, Kaltenmark coached four seasons in the Midwest Conference, the last two as Cornell’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Rams improved their offense by nearly 10 points per game and over 100 passing yards per game while achieving their first winning season in a decade in his first season as OC. In 2024 they added another 29 total yards per game, including an increase of 40 yards per game in rushing. In two years with Cornell, Kaltenmark had seven offensive players named to the Midwest Conference All-Conference teams and saw a wideout set school records for touchdowns and all purpose yards.
In his first two seasons with Cornell, Kaltenmark was the wide receivers coach/equipment coordinator and also in charge of social media. His coaching helped place Mason Davis on the DIII All-Region third team as a wide receiver and he also aided in recruiting the two largest football classes in Rams history.
Before coaching at Cornell, Kaltenmark worked as a receivers coach at both the College of Dupage (NJCAA).and at Concordia University-Chicago. He has also coached at Trine University, Highland Park High School and as a student assistant at his alma mater, Saint Norbert College.
Kaltenmark played at Saint Norbert where he earned a bachelor of arts in communications and media. He continued his education with a master of arts in sports leadership at Concordia-Chicago. As a player at Saint Norbert, Kaltenmark won two Midwest Conference championships as the Green Knights advanced to the NCAA DIII Playoffs in both 2012 and 2013.
Kaltenmark is a native of Saint Charles, Illinois and a graduate of Wheaton St. Francis where he was a member of the 2008 Class 5A IHSA State Championship team.
