With staffing levels below required standards, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office utilizes neighboring counties to house inmates, reports Sheriff Matt Link:
“We take them to the Warren County Jail and take females to McDonough, and we recently have started taking some to Mercer County as well. It is actually working out really well for us. Our jail is not closed; we just don’t have enough personnel to be able to staff the jail up to standards to be able to keep people there.”
Sheriff Link informs they do house inmates at the Henderson County Jail through the day for court purposes; however, they are unable to remain overnight due to personnel shortages.
