Joyce Ann (Dixon) Adair, 75, of Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 7:57 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. 

She was born on April 25, 1944 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Gillette B. and Marjorie (Noble) Dixon, the youngest of six siblings.  She was raised and educated in Oquawka and attended the G & O Grade School and graduated from Union High School in 1962.  After graduation she worked at The Oquawka Banking Center as a teller.

Joyce married John R. Adair on February 11, 1968 in Biggsville, IL.  He preceded her in death on July 20, 2014.

Joyce was a farm wife; she helped her husband on the farm, took care of her family and she spent many years raising sheep and making textiles on their farm. Joyce was an active member of the Buchanan weaving group. Together with her siblings, she rehabilitated the Phelps House in Oquawka, where they opened it up to special events. She also worked at the Kirkwood Banking Center and the Model Her Closet in Monmouth. She was a member of the Oquawka Saddle Club.   Joyce was a member of the Rozetta Baptist Church and the Alexis Phelps Society in Oquawka. 

Surviving Joyce is her daughter, Johanna (Dan) Defenbaugh; grandson, Nathan Defenbaugh; and granddaughter, Ella Defenbaugh all of Kirkwood, IL.  Also surviving are two brothers, Don (Pat) Dixon of Burlington, IA., Les (Susan) Dixon of Geneva, IL, and one sister, C. Ellen Dixon of Bettendorf, IA & Dahinda, IL; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters; Elaine (Frank) Brokaw, and Jo (Dean) Klossing.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Rozetta Baptist Church, Rozetta, IL (Directions to the Church are located on the Funeral Home Website).  Interment will be in Biggsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the Church.  Memorials can be made to Rozetta Baptist Church or the Henderson County Historical Society.
