Shirley Kay Anders, 71, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at her home.

Shirley was born on December 30, 1948 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Herb and Ella Mae (Thorman) Schwenker. On January 11, 1969 she married Jerry Anders in Burlington. He survives.

Shirley was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School. Following high school she attended Southeastern Community College. Earlier in life Shirley worked in finance and for Burlington Glass Company. She and Jerry spent most of their life in the LaHarpe area before moving to Monmouth in 1999. Shirley enjoyed babysitting many kids and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; two children, Ryanne Anders and Nicholas Anders both of Monmouth; one step-daughter, KayDee (Jason) Nelson of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cierra, Chloe and Drake and two sisters, Connie (Gary) Bowling of Yuma, Arizona and Stacey Nelson of Wellton, Arizona. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Linda Schwenker.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Jamieson Community Center in Monmouth.
