Doris G. Young, 92, of Monmouth, passed away on  December 20, 2021 at
Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.  She was born on April 13, 1929 in
Kirkwood, IL to Bert and Myra (Rezner) Gunter. She married Harold Young
August 11, 1951 at the Kirkwood United Methodist Church and he is
surviving. They celebrated their 70th Anniversary this year.

Doris is survived by her loving spouse Harold, two daughters, Marcee
(Jim) Hudson of Monmouth, IL and Patty (Mark) Hasenstein of Peoria, IL. 
Also surviving are her grandchildren Andy Hudson of Atlanta, IL,  Emily
(Ben) Dolezal of Iowa City, IA, and Joe (Krista) Hasenstein of Chicago,
IL, and her  brothers Don Gunter of Morton, IL and Carroll (Nina) Gunter
of Wichita, KS.

She was preceded in death by parents, son John Young, 3 brothers Robert
Gunter, John Eugene Gunter, Bill Gunter and one sister Margaret Muse .

She was born and raised around Kirkwood, graduating Kirkwood High School
in 1947.  She attended Western Illinois Teachers College. She started
teaching at Barr, a one room schoolhouse.  She taught music in Kirkwood
before she started to raise her family. She was a member and director of
Galesburg Sweet Adelines.  She was also a member and director for Heart
of Illinois Chorus. She played the Calliope for parades for 38 years and
in three states.  She played the organ and piano at the Coldbrook
Christian Church for many years.  Doris also helped around the farm and
helped her husband with there businesses.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 26th 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Graveside Services will be held on
Monday, December 27, 2021at 2:00 pm at the Mosher Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Coldbrook Christian Church or OSF Hospice
