Roger W. Kelly, age 92, of Biggsville, Illinois passed away in
Stronghurst, Illinois on Saturday March 26, 2022 at 4:30 pm. Roger was
born on November 28, 1929 in Danville, Iowa and is the son of William W.
and Maude Watson Kelly. During his grade school years they moved to
Biggsville, Illinois and he attended Cedar Lynn Country School. He then
attended and graduated from Biggsville High School with the class of
1947. Roger served his country in the United States Army. He married
Betty Joanne Boyd on February 28, 1951 in Stronghurst, Illinois and she
preceded him in death on July 16, 2013. As a boy Roger worked for the
State of Illinois mowing roadways with a horse drawn mower. He later
worked at the Stronghurst FS as a delivery driver for a number of years.
He then worked for Farm Bureau as Secretary of the Organization in
Illinois and Iowa securing members. He later purchased a farm from his
boyhood neighbor north of Biggsville, Illinois and has farm to the
present. Roger is a life long member of Biggsville United Methodist
Church, is a life member of Masonic Lodge 123 in Oquawka, Illinois, is a
member of the Biggsville Post 1176 American Legion in Biggsville, is a
former member of Biggsville Lions Club, is a member of the Henderson
County Olde TYME Farm Club, and has been involved with various civic
organizations for a number of years locally. Roger also has been active
in the Farm Toy Collector Club and is nearly obsessed with Red Tractors.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Anderson and John of Carman,
Illinois, and three sons, Scott W. Kelly of Gladstone, IL; Clark ” Cork”
Kelly and Denise of Biggsville, IL; and Gene W. Kelly of Palm Springs,
CA. There are seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and
five great great grandchildren surviving him. special companion, Alene
Markey also is surviving Roger. He is preceded in his death by his
parents, wife Betty, grandson, Doug, one brother and one sister.

A funeral service is planned on Friday April 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at the
Biggsville United Methodist Church in Biggsville, Illinois. His family
plans visitation and will receive their friends at the church from 9:00
am to 11:00  am prior to the service. Interment with military honors
will follow at Biggsville Township Cemetery. A memorial fund is
established for either, Biggsville United Methodist Church, the Oquawka
Masonic Lodge 123, or the Biggsville American Legion Post 1176. To leave
