Megan Josefson

Megan Josefson, 42 of Normal, Illinois and formerly of Abingdon, Illinois and Harlan, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Carle-BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Megan was born December 6, 1979 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Dan and Susan (Brackett) Josefson.

She graduated from Harlan Community High School in 1997.  Over the years, Megan held several jobs in the accounting field, but she found, through recovery, a passion for helping others.

Megan had her share of struggles with addiction, but she did not let her disease define her.  She used her story and struggles to empower others.  But there was more to her than that, she was a caring person who loved to laugh, she loved books, her cats, kayaking and spending time with her family.  There wasn’t an animal on earth that Megan didn’t try to feed or save.  One of her fondest memories was of her trip to Ireland.

She is survived by her parents, Dan and Susan Josefson of Galesburg; one brother, Matt (Carmen) Josefson and nieces, Tessa Sue and Emma Mae all of Irwin, Iowa; one sister, Sara Josefson of Des Moines, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Eugene and Joan Josefson and her maternal grandparents, Tom and Dorothy Brackett and one cousin, Todd Josefson.

Even in death, Megan is helping others as she was a donor through the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network.  To celebrate her life, visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel, 206 N. Washington St., Abingdon, Illinois followed by cremation.

Family and friends are invited to Dan and Susan’s home at 1021 Sunny Knoll Drive, Galesburg, Illinois 61401 after the visitation to share in food and continued celebration of Megan’s life.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois, 423 N Kay’s Dr., Normal, IL. 61761.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
