Jimmie Lee Mims, 65, of Galesburg, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born July 10, 1957, in Galesburg, the son of Sgt. Melvin and Goldia Mae (Kimbrough) Mims Jr. He married Sandy Jean West on June 1, 1997, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Sandy; a son, Jimmie Mims of Galesburg; step children, Amanda (Josh) Dobbins of Carson City, Nevada and Michael (Tamra) Bickerton of Galesburg; grandchildren, Nevaeh and Tresser Bickerton and Emmette Dobbins; siblings, Johnny Mims, Juanita Mims, and Patricia Mims, all of Florida and Amber Mims of Arizona; step siblings, Alfia and Andrew; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including Rick, Abe, Cesar, and Nino. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter at birth, Patricia; and siblings, Royce Giles, Billy Giles, and Timmy Mims.
Jimmie was a press operator at Great Dane in Kewanee for over 20 years, retiring on July 10, 2022. He enjoyed acrylic painting, wrestling with his son, watching movies, and talking with his friends. Most of all, Jimmie loved time spent with his wife and son. He was recently baptized into the Christian faith.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Donaldson officiating. Burial will be next to his mother in East Linwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
