Joyce E. Stewart, 85, of Galesburg, died at 10:47 a.m. Saturday, April 27,2024, in OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born November 5, 1938, in Peoria, the daughter of Temple and Ruth E. (Honn) Wilson. She married Blair C. Stewart on April 29, 1961, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Blair; four children, Bryan (Melissa) Stewart of Galveston, Indiana, Brent (Teresa) Stewart of Dahinda, Brad (Kim) Stewart of Bristol, Indiana, and Brenda (Derek) Clevidence of Madison, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, Alyssa (Trent), Brynn (Marissa), Brianna (Jason), Chelsey (Travis), Madison, Seth, Jakin, GG, Brett, and Emily; seven great grandchildren; and siblings, Ruth Talbert, Diana (Jim) Winslow, Kathy Snow, and Jim Morgan. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Ruth Morgan; and a sister, Mary Lou Hovind.

She graduated from Toulon High School in 1957. Joyce worked in the cafeteria for Galesburg School District 205 for 26 years before retiring. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school, was in charge of costumes for performances, and watched little ones in the nursery. Joyce loved flowers and sewing.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 3, 2024, at the First Church of the Nazarene. Funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Jade Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in Joyce’s name may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
