Staff and students in the United School District hit the ground running today as teachers and staff report for three institute days, backpack nights, and the first day of school this Thursday, August 17th, says Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt:
“Teachers will be back at their stations fired up and ready to go. We are doing a little different thing this year, we did extend and have three days of institute to kick off the year. We have done an adoption of a new reading series and some things, particularly our elementary staff could use the extra time to prep. Our kids will start coming on the 17th. We are full out full days right from the get go, we are rolling. Reminder to everybody that we are fully air conditioned and heat is not an issue. We are going to get going and utilize every minute we can right from the get go.”
United’s backpack night for Elementary and Junior High students is Tuesday, August 15th from 5 to 7 pm. Backpack night for the High School is 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, August 16th.
