Monmouth-Roseville Junior High is ready to welcome students back on Monday, August 18th, and so is counselor Wendy Anderson. She says her focus this year will be on providing students with the overall social and emotional support they need.
“Just overall social, emotional support, realizing that every student is coming from a different space, and sometimes students that struggle in the classroom, it’s not a personal thing. They’re dealing with other things that may come out in behaviors, and so just being open-minded, supportive, meeting the student where they’re at. is super important. Because all of these students, you don’t know what their summer was like, you don’t know what they’re bringing in, what burdens they’re bringing in, how they feel about school, do they struggle in school. So, it’s a lot to consider when supporting students.”
Additionally, Mrs. Anderson says she is excited to meet the new students and reconnect with those returning. The Monmouth-Roseville School District will kick off the school year on Monday, August 18th.
