Kristyne Gilbert, Executive Director at the Buchanan Center for the Arts, recently received a prestigious honor. Last week, Gilbert was named to the Illinois Arts Council Agency advisory panel. The primary responsibility of the panel is to evaluate grant applications and requests from arts organizations in Illinois.
“It’s very humbling. I’m very honored to help serve and help out with the process of the grants that the Illinois Arts Council receives,” she said.
The Illinois Arts Council Agency was created in 1965 to develop the state’s public arts policy, foster culturally diverse programs, and to approve grants. Gilbert is one of 21 citizens that were appointed to the position throughout Illinois based on their commitment to the arts.
Aside from serving on the advisory panel, Gilbert and the Buchanan Center in Monmouth are gearing up for their “Taste of the Arts” fundraiser on Nov. 11th. The growth of the gallery forced the BCA to transfer their fundraiser to a different location this year, something Gilbert is quite happy with.
“We’re holding it out at the Warren County History Museum this year, which is on Sunnylane. They hold about 160 people, so we will be out there this year. We’ll have a very wonderful meal, live and silent auctions, live music, and if folks are interested, they can purchase tickets at the Buchanan Center for $60 per guest,” Gilbert stated.
The “Taste of the Arts” fundraiser will be from 6-9 p.m. on Veterans Day this year. For more information, log on to bcaarts.org.
