ROE Banquet to Honor Long-Time Teachers

Regional Office of Education Region 33 is holding their Excellence in Education: Teacher’s Appreciation Banquet on Thursday, May 10. The region consists of nine school districts across Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren counties. Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools, Lori Loving, shares who will be recognized at the ceremony:

“We will be honoring over 30 educators; teachers, administrators, support staff, bus drivers, maintenance, anybody involved in the education system for having over 20 years of experience and retiring. We also have at least 20 teachers and support staff that we’ll be recognizing during that banquet as well,” she said.

The teaching profession, once a popular profession with adequate numbers in terms of employees, is now trending in the wrong direction with a shortage at many schools nationwide at numerous spots. Regional Superintendent of Schools, Jodi Scott, says that is the exact reason why teachers with many years of service should be recognized:

“Sometimes I think we forget to do that; we forget to celebrate the great things that teachers do and elevate that profession again, where we are and what we’re doing, so I think that’s a key,” Scott stated.

The banquet is strictly an invite-only event. To learn more about the ROE, visit their website at roe33.net.
