Imagination Library and 2-1-1: The Latest in United Way Programming

Share

Two new programs offered by Warren County United Way are helping two very different groups of people in the community. The first program is called Imagination Library, which provides a free book every month to children ages birth to five. The program was created by Dolly Parton, and parents can sign their children up at the Warren County Public Library or online at warrencountyunitedway.com.

The second program is called 2-1-1. Jeannie Weber, Executive Director at the United Way, explains:

“Basically, you dial 2-1-1 like the old school 4-1-1 information except this information is about housing, educational sources or assistance, food, domestic violence help – anything a person may need that’s under some kind of stress or emergency situation,” she said.

United Way provides this program throughout the United States. Once dialed, the caller will be directed to a bilingual call center in Bloomington. Funding for the program has been provided by McDonough Power, the City of Monmouth, and one anonymous donor.

For more information on the program, visit their website at 211.org.
