The construction on the US 34 four-lane stretch between Monmouth and Galesburg, which has been closed since April, is expected to be completed by October 1st. Director of Communications for the Illinois Department of Transportation, Guy Tridgell, updates on the progress of the construction.

Tridgell states, “All of the drainage work is complete. Approximately 75 percent of the resurfacing component is done and half of the new shoulders are finished. The repairs to the westbound bridge are also done.”

The long anticipated completion date is about a month away now. Tridgell also shared that eastbound bridge repairs still remain, but a majority of the construction has been finished.
