Here’s the WMOI/WRAM/WAIK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct 7th, 2018:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys golfer, Aaron Blindt. Aaron carded an 80 at the Class 2A Monmouth-Roseville regional tournament at his home course of Gibson Woods. That score was tied for the 11th lowest score of the meet and qualified him for the sectional tournament at Lincoln Elks Country Club in Lincoln, Ill.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls golfer, Paige McKeown. Paige shot a 96 at the Class 1A Mercer County Regional meet at Hawthorne Ridge Golf Course. That was good enough for 3rd place overall and went a long ways towards helping the Red Storm move on to the 1A Sectional meet at the Pontiac Elks Country Club.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore volleyball player, Megan Schaley. Megan had a great week last week, including a very steady performance at the United Tournament. She had double figure totals in 3 different stat categories with 18 points, 17 kills and 17 digs in her team’s five matches.

The A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Tori Adolphson. Tori really showed her versatility at the United Red Storm Tournament at United High School. She filled up the stat sheet with 28 total assists, nine kills, 12 blocks, 14 digs and even served for six aces in her team’s five matches.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week, presented by Toyota, is senior boys golfer, Lucas Watson. Lucas placed in the top 10 individually at the Monmouth-Roseville Class 2A Regionals at Gibson Woods Golf Course. His fantastic round of 79 sent him to the 2A Sectional Tournament at Lincoln Elks Country Club in Lincoln. Earlier this season, Lucas was 10th with an 81 at the Western Big Six Conference Tournament, placing him on the All-Conference team.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank and Galesburg Toyota!!
