The Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau attended their Annual Meeting earlier in December and had discussion on two major topics, recreational marijuana and gun control. President Jared Kunkle, has more on what was discussed:

“The point of the delegate session is to put resolutions and bylaws in place so that the Illinois Farm Bureau knows where to pursue when those go to the House and Senate to discuss issues. There was some gun control that was talked about too. Mainly for volunteer to carry as a teacher if they have the proper training. There was a lot of emotion thrown into the discussion as well. Overall it went fairly well,” Kunkle shares.

In other news, the Illinois Agricultural Association scholarship opportunities are open for high school seniors, while the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureaus are fast approaching. Manager Gina Long shares more details on where to apply for these scholarships:

“The IAA Foundation scholarship process opened on December 1st and will run until February 1st. So if there are any high school seniors going to pursue agriculture in college, encourage them to visit iaafoundation.org and check out many scholarships on their website. Then our foundation scholarships should open the last days of December or first days of January. And the foundations scholarships will run until the last day of February,” states Long.

For both foundations, applicants must be members or dependents of members of the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau to apply.
