Monmouth Police Respond to Man Barricaded in Home

At 11:58 AM, Monmouth Police, Monmouth Fire and Galesburg Hospitals Ambulance Service responded to 516 W. 2nd Ave., Monmouth IL for a subject, Brian E. Sage of 516 W. 2nd Ave., who had barricaded himself in residence and had set the residence on fire. Monmouth Police officers were able to get Sage out of the house and secured him. Sage was then transported to OSF Holy Family Medical Center for evaluation. The Monmouth Fire Department, Cameron Fire Department, and Kirkwood Fire Department were able to control the fire which had been started inside the residence. The fire did not spread to additional structures, and the structure remains intact.

The Monmouth Police Department is continuing an investigation into the incident. Charges may be pending after the Warren County State’s Attorney review.
