The United Red Storm boys golf team won their quadrangular meet on Saturday at Bunker Links in Galesburg. The Red Storm shot a team score of 358 to beat Williamsfield by two strokes, Galesburg by 7 and Knoxville by 33 strokes. Leading the way for United was Drew Brown with an 83. Evan Wynne chipped in with an 89. Andrew Fuller’s 92 and Dyhlan Hepner’s 94 rounded out the scoring for the Red Storm. Galesburg’s Jason Runbom was the meet medalist with a 71.
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan boys golf team participated in the Macomb Bomber Invitational at the Macomb Country Club on Saturday. The host Bombers took first place, shooting a 315. They were led by Connor Hamm’s 72 and Braeden Duncan’s 76. Those scores were good enough for 4th and 5th place individually. Monmouth-Roseville shot a team total of 417. The Titans were led by Reese Kane’s 96, Tyler Sells’ 97 and Blake Cunninham and Noah Clark’s 112’s.
Junior High
ICS hosted a jamboree at the Field of Dreams in Monmouth. The host Trojans split a pair of 1-run games, beating Stark County 7-6 and falling to Quincy Catholic 2-1. ICS won their first game against Stark by getting a walk-off David Simmons, scoring Ty Corsaro with the winning run. The Trojans trailed by a run heading into the final inning. Jake Steele was 4-for-4 with a double and two rbis for ICS. Zach Almaguer was 3-for-4. In the game two loss to Quincy, ICS was held to three hits. Leo Mahoney went 1-for-1 with a double and an rbi to lead the ICS offense. The Trojans are (3-2) on the season.
The United Red Storm junior high baseball team defeated Bartonville 13-9 in Alexis to get their overall record to (3-2) as well. Elliott Copeland was 3-for-3 for United. Copeland, Derrick Sargeant and Carter Rothzen each knocked in three runs.
