The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1086 W. Berrien Street this morning, Tuesday, February 3, 2025, at 11:18 AM. The response included all three stations and 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered a detached garage with heavy fire showing from a doorway. Battalion Chief Matt Cain established Command and the Brooks Street Station fire crew utilized an attack hose line to extinguish the fire. All other fire crews assisted with water supply and overhaul.

An emergency callback of off duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the City. One individual was transported by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services to St. Mary’s Medical Center where they were treated for injuries. The garage sustained significant damage, estimated to be approximately $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Galesburg Fire Department Investigators.
