Marjorie L. Smith, 91, of Monmouth formerly of Little York, IL passed away at 11:20 am, Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth, IL.

She was born October 24, 1927 at the family farm home in Sumner Township, Warren County, IL, the daughter of William H. and Lucy (Fair) Theime.  She was raised and educated in Warren County attending Iveydor Grade School and later graduating from Little York High School in 1945.

Marjorie married Edward R. Smith at the Fall Creek United Methodist on October 5, 1947 and he passed away on March 1, 2006.

Marjorie was a homemaker.  She was a wonderful cook who made delicious pies and baked beans.  She organized and served the meals for all of the family purebred hog sales.

She was of strong faith and very active in her church.  She held several offices in the Methodist Church and the Methodist Women organization. She was also active in the Church Women United.  Marjorie was a current member of the Little Cedar Church where she served as a Deacon and was in charge of Blanket Sunday at the church.  She was also active with the Little York Farmerettes, a 4-H leader, member of P.E.O. Chapter T, Kirkwood and volunteered at OSF Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy ( Dave) Erlandson of Smithshire, IL; sons, Kerry (Mary) Smith of Sherrard, IL and John (Leslye) Smith of Farmington, IL; 8 grandchildren, Ann(Matt) Simcoe, Mike (Kristine) Erlandson, Kelly (Steve) Davich, Jennie (Rod) Hatch, Katie (Emily) Ruskin, Laura (Chuck Murphy) Smith-Hubbard, Tyler Smith and Joshua Smith; 3 step-grandchildren, Steve (Michelle) Amos, David Amos and John (Emily) Amos; great grandchildren, Charoltte Simcoe, Elsa and Gus Erlandson, Stuart Davich, Aizik and Sydnie Hatch, Whitney Banks, Noah, Elijah, Hannah and Asher Hubbard; step-great grandchildren, Harper Amos, Everly Amos and Asher Horrie; her brother, Charles (Dee) Thieme of Sherrard, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Dorothy Spence.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Interment will be in Little York Cemetery, Visitation will be Monday, August 12, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Little Cedar Church or the OSF Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary.   For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
