The City of Monmouth Amends ‘Sidewalk Cafe’ Ordinance

Share

The Monmouth City Council has amended the existing ‘Sidewalk Café Ordinance’.

Currently, liquor license establishments are allowed to serve food and beverages in a confined area outside of the business.

The amendment allows for outside service 7 days per week, from 11 am to 10 pm, and opens up this service to lounges and restaurants, which was previously intended for businesses with liquor licenses.

Lew Steinbrecher, the current City Administrator of Monmouth, explained the current restrictions and allowances of the amended ordinance…

“There are some other restrictions in terms of barriers separating the cafe from the sidewalk, there are allowances to ensure that there is sufficient space on the sidewalk for the passage of pedestrians and that type of thing. The council felt that it was a good policy to open this up to lounges as well as restaurants.”
