Devin Lawrence rushed for a career-high 154 yards, but the Scots couldn’t run pasat Wartburg, falling on the Knights home turf 38-9.
Wartburg jumped out to a 10-0 before the Scots broke through. Brennan White hit Jake Uryasz for a 42-yard scoring strike on their first possession of the second quarter to trim the hole to 10-7.
After the Scots forced the Knights to punt on their ensuing possession,
Wartburg scored a Pick Six on Monmouth’s third-and-11 at their own 14.
Wartburg finished the half with a 21-point second quarter and tacked on a
pair of fourth quarter TDs after the Scots kept the Knights in check in
the third period following a lengthy weather delay.
Monmouth will get this weekend off as the Midwest Conference schools
observe the Bye Week before resuming play Sept. 28 when the Scots host
St. Norbert.
