Monmouth College Hits Speed Bump in Iowa Contest

MONMOUTH, IL (09/18/2019) Sept. 18 – Men’s Soccer – Monmouth College at Iowa Wesleyan

Monmouth’s best start since 2002 took a turn Tuesday in a 5-1 loss to Iowa Wesleyan.

The Scots entered the game riding a four-game win streak, but trailed 2-0 through the first 47 minutes before Nicolas Esparon found the net in the 48th minute. The Tigers countered four minutes later, firing a three-goal barrage in
a five-minute span to put the game away.

Monmouth continues their road swing with a trip to Central Saturday before a home date with Coe on Tuesday. It’s their final games before opening Midwest Conference play Sept. 28 at St. Norbert.
