We’ll have two high school football games on the Prairie Communications Sports Network on Friday night. The United Red Storm travel to Princeville High School for a game against the Princes. Last week, the Red Storm took on then 7th ranked Annawan/Wethersfield at home. The visitors went back home with a 48-7 victory. United only trailed 14-7 at the end of the 1st quarter but a 12-0 2nd quarter advantage by A/W, essentially put the game away. Meanwhile, Princeville also used a big 2nd quarter to put away West Central in a 42-19 win. The Princes are receiving votes in this week’s AP Poll. You can hear this game on AM 1330/FM 94.1 WRAM and online at radiomonmouth.com, with Ron Grant and Chad Robertson’s pregame show starting at 6:40, kickoff is set for 7:00.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans are finally home after two road games as they host the Kewanee Boilermakers at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth. After two tough losses to start the season, the Titans fell behind 28-0 early last week at Spring Valley Hall and despite a valiant second half effort, they would come out on the wrong end of a 35-12 decision to go to (0-3). Kewanee has a new head coach this season in former Galesburg High School football assistant and head Silver Streak softball coach, Brad Swanson. Even though the Boilermakers are (1-2) coming into this week, they nearly pulled off a major upset of perennial power and state-ranked Sterling Newman last week, losing 27-26 on a late Newman score. Kewanee also gave state-ranked Orion all they could handle before falling 35-27. This game will be on Sunny 97.7 WMOI and radiomonmouth.com. Myself and Jeff Ewing’s pregame show will hit the air at 6:40, kickoff is 7:00.
