Grace M. Bond, 93, of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Sciota, Illinois, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday October 23, 2019 at Wesley Village in Macomb. She was born December 24, 1925 in Sciota, Illinois, the daughter of Ervin and Josie Guy Torrance. On August 25, 1943, she married Jesse Walton Bond at the Coldbrook Christian Church. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2010.
Mrs Bond was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family farm. She lived in Sciota most of her life, moving to Macomb in 2006. She worked as a cook for Southern High School in Stronghurst and the Lamoine Nursing Home in Roseville. She also worked at Pioneer Seed Company in Good Hope for a time. She was a member of the Sciota United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, and the Gingham Girls.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Charles) Lefler, of Stronghurst, two sons, J.W. Bond of Blandinsville, IL, William E. (Lynne) Bond of Edinburg, IL, 5 grandchildren, Christine, Jack, Jess Bond, Jesse Bond, Brandy Lynne Davis, T.J. Bond, three great granchildren, Tayler Johnson, Alan Fleece, Jayden Bond, one sister, Alice Paulsgrove, Galesburg, IL, Ralph (Marilyn) Torrance of Terre Haute, IL, and George Torrance, of Biggsville, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, in infancy, Naomi Allene Bond, one grandson, Alan Lefler, One brother, Frank Torrance and one sister, Jennie Anderson.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m., with Chaplain Lyren Haney officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Raritan Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Wesley Village in Macomb.
