Elsewhere around the area tonight….
There’s a big matchup once again this week in the Prairieland Conference’s Black Division. The top two teams face-off as Class 2A, 7th-ranked Knoxville Blue Bullets (5-0, 3-0) host Abingdon-Avon (4-1, 2-0) for Knoxville’s homecoming game.
In the Prairieland Conference Blue Division, Farmington (4-1, 3-0) tries to keep their league lead with a win over BPC/WP (1-4, 1-2). Havana (3-2, 2-1) and Rushville/Industry (3-2, 2-1) are right behind the Farmers in the standings. The Ducks and Rockets host Peoria Heights (0-5, 0-3) and Elmwood/Brimfield (2-3, 1-2), respectively.
The Lincoln Trail Conference has another big matchup this week. Coming off a big win over Princeville, Annawan-Wethersfield (5-0, 3-0) plays an important game against Ridgewood (5-0, 3-0) in Cambridge. Princeville (4-1, 2-1) will try to keep their hopes for a conference title alive with a win over Mid-County (2-3, 1-2). West Central (3-2, 1-2) has playoff hopes and a win at Mercer County (2-3, 1-2) will go a long ways towards that goal.
Every game left on the schedule for the Galesburg Silver Streaks (1-4, 0-3 in the WB6) are considered a playoff game at this point. If the Streaks want to make the postseason, they’ll need a win over Moline (3-2, 2-1 WB6) tonight.
On paper, Macomb (0-5, 0-0) looks to have a favorable match up this week. The Bombers go to West Hancock (1-4, 0-1) for a West Central Conference battle.
