MONMOUTH, IL (11/04/2019) Monmouth’s Devin Lawrence (Hawthorne, Fla./Hawthorne) made quick work of overtime last weekend and was named football’s Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week.

Lawrence rushed for a game-high 165 yards and three touchdowns, but no yards or touchdowns were bigger than his 25-yard run for a TD in overtime of Saturday’s 21-20 win over the University of Chicago to clinch the MWC South division. The sophomore running back broke tackles on the first play of OT to give the Scots the lead and the eventual win. His first TD in the second quarter had given Monmouth the lead and his second in the third period stretched the lead to eight. Lawrence also hauled in two passes for 14 yards to give him a game-high 179 all-purpose yards.
