Hazel Ann Stewart, 56, of Galesburg, died Saturday, November 23, 2019 at home surrounded by her family and friends.

Hazel was born October 1, 1963 in Galesburg, the daughter of William Michael and Constance Mae (Kneeream) Shea.  She married Dennis Lee Smith on July 12, 1980.  He died on May 23, 1985.  She later married Roger Stewart on December 4, 1999 at Oak Run.  He survives as does one son, Dennis (Mariah) Smith of Galesburg; one daughter, Ashley Stewart of Galesburg; and two step-daughters, Jami (B.J.) Mahnesmith of Peoria and Jessica (Tony) Quinn of Galesburg.  Hazel is also survived by three brothers, William (Helen) Shea of Wataga, Dennis (Sherry) Shea of Henderson, and Daniel (Cecelia) Shea of Gilson; one sister, Linda Colwell of Georgetown, TX; and seven grandchildren, Joseph Quinn, Adam Stewart, Jordyn Smith, Dennis Smith, Lomac Payton, Isabella Quinn, and Jaylen Currie.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Shealynn Currie.

Hazel graduated from Carl Sandburg College with an AAS in Criminal Justice.  She loved tending bar and spent over 30 years slinging drinks at different bars spending most of her years at Cactus Country.  She loved to go golfing, camping, and cooking out on the grill.  Hazel’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Eulogies will be read at 6 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 with a memorial visitation following to 8 p.m. at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  No funeral services will be held.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
