Monmouth ends the season with the No. 1 ranking in strength-of-schedule, playing their third ranked team this season, falling 35-10 to No. 10 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the first round of the NCAA playoffs.

The Scots trailed 28-0 at the half, but came back with a third quarter TD when Walker Dycus found Nathan Graham for a 16-yard scoring strike. Joey Biel’s PAT cut the deficit to 28-7, but the Warhawks answered on their ensuing possession to go up 35-7.

Biel trimmed the hole to 35-10 on a 28-yard field goal with 10:11 left in the game, but the Scots would get no closer as both defenses protected the end zone in the final 10 minutes.

The Warhawks outgained the Scots 478-172, but Monmouth blocked two punts and picked off a Warhawk pass. Carter Lewis posted a game-high 11 tackles and Clark Gaden added 10 for the Scots.

Monmouth finished the year 7-3 with all three losses coming to ranked opponents. The Scots had opened the season playing ranked teams Wheaton and Wartburg, making the Warhawks’ the third ranked opponent for the Monmouth this season. All three ranked teams advanced to the NCAA second round.
