Monmouth trailed only briefly in their fifth straight win, a 90-71 downing of Iowa Wesleyan.

A Will Carius jumper with 13:55 left in the first half gave the Scots the lead for good as they connected on nearly 70 percent of their first half shots on the way to a 50-35 halftime lead. Monmouth cooled in the second half, but held the Tigers to 10-of-27 from the floor in the final 20 minutes to maintain the edge.

Carius pumped in a game-high 31 points while Dee Hyler added 14, Tyler Houston 11 and Justin Batterton and Jonathan Oradiegwu 10 each.

The Scots resume play next Wednesday hosting Illinois College in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams.
