A change to food stamps could affect up to 140-thousand Illinois residents.  The new rule was announced by President Trump’s administration this week and goes into effect on April 1st.  Able-bodied people will be taken off the federal SNAP program as the administration says they are able to work.  The rule only applies to people ages 18 to 49 who don’t have dependents.
