Betty D. Carmean, 84, of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away January 21, 2020 at her home.

She was born on December 1, 1935 in Media, Illinois the daughter of Jim and Leona Littrel Carnes. On August 1, 1956 she married Robert Carmean in Stronghurst. He survives. 

Betty worked as a CNA at the LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Roseville, Illinois, Gene Ross Grocery Store and Bygones & Buds both in Stronghurst. She served several years as the Treasurer of the Henderson County Cancer Society. She was the first lady of the District 1H Lions Club, and she and her husband traveled to several locations with the Lions, including Seoul Korea, Montreal Canada and Hawaii. She also loved traveling with her family, and enjoyed their many trips to Branson, MO. Betty was a longtime member of the Stronghurst Christian Church. Betty loved her family and everyone she ever knew. 

Survivors include her husband: Bob; one daughter: Anna Carmean of Stronghurst and one granddaughter: Brandi (Himzo) Trbonja of Des Plaines, Illinois. 

She was preceded in death by one daughter: Rebecca Bechtel; seven brothers: James, Lloyd, Harold, Roy, William, Donald and Max and six sisters: Catherine, Merle, Garnet, Isabelle, Mary and Rosella.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Stronghurst Christian Church with Rev. Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
