Galesburg, IL (January 18, 2020) Galesburg Fire Department was called out at 04:59 a.m for a structure fire at 268 Pine Street this morning. Brooks Street Station and Central Station units arrived at 5:06 finding smoke showing from the front gable vent of the two story house. The fire was quickly extinguished but it did take approximately an hour to look for extension in the wall cavities. The fire apparently started in the attic and had spread behind the wall of a second story room. The damage was contained to those areas. There were no injuries sustained as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
