John Robert Sutton, 82, of Galesburg, formerly of Kewanee, died at 1:48 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2020, in Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center.

He was born August 21, 1937, in Kewanee, the son of Sylvester and Lillian (Schaller) Sutton.  He married Karen Sue Lampke in Kewanee.  She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a sister, Karen Anne (Reggie Melvin) Genisio of Galesburg; a brother, Fred (Donna) Sutton of Kewanee; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Gary, and Donald Sutton; and two sisters, Ethel Peed and Darlene Dykes.

John had worked for Lacky Monument Company in Kewanee and the Ford garage.  He graduated from Kewanee High School.  John was simple man who enjoyed fishing, tinkering with things, and spending time with Karen and Reggie’s dog, Oliver.

Cremation will be accorded.  Services will be held at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling cremation arrangements for the family.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the funeral home to help offset expenses.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
