Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 16th, 2020:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Ben Anderson. Ben nearly averaged a double-double of points and rebounds in a pair of games last week. Against Brimfield, he scored 18 points and hauled down 7 rebounds. In a loss to Knoxville, Ben put up 14 points and grabbed 12 boards.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Courtney Hinton. Courtney ended her high school career by nearly leading her team to an upset over West Central. In an eight point loss to the Heat in a Class 1A regional quarterfinal match up, she led the Red Storm in scoring with 9 points. Courtney led the Red Storm in rebounding in her final high school season.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Landen Beelman. Landen was been an important part of both of the most recent wins for the Heat. He scored 24 points in a conference win over Mercer County. He was even better in a Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament win over Stark County, pouring in 27 points. Between those two games, Landen was 13-for-15 from the free throw line.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Emma Curry. Emma pulled down an amazing 18 rebounds in a class 1A regional quarterfinal win over North Fulton. She also contributed four points to the victory as well. Emma was a factor for the Tornadoes on defensive end all season, finishing 3rd on the team in defensive rebounding and tied for 2nd in steals.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Riley Jenkins. With the regional tournament just around the corner, Riley picked a great time to start getting hot. She ended the regular season with a spectacular game in a Western Big Six Conference win against Moline. Riley poured in a career-high 37 points, including six made shots from behind the 3-point line.
