Patrick C. Kennedy, 69, of Galesburg, died Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
Pat was born February 10, 1951 in Galesburg, the son of Francis LaVerne and Mary Elizabeth (Landuyt) Kennedy. He married Theresa Lynn Baranowski on February 14, 1976 in Galesburg. She survives as do their children, four daughters, Julie Anderson-Kennedy of Aurora, CO, Jennifer (Patrick) Harlan, Amy Kennedy, and Emily Kennedy all of Galesburg; one son, Ryan (Summer) Kennedy of Irvine, CA; one brother, John (the late Nancy) Kennedy of Knoxville; and one sister, Joyce (Mike) King of Oneida. Pat is also survived by his beloved 15 grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, and Madeline Anderson, Anthony and Julian Martin, Isaiah, Alexsia, and Vanessa Harlan, Taleah, Mason, Bryce, and Aiden Kennedy, Evan and Katelyn Kennedy, and another grandson due in April; and one great granddaughter, Adley Anderson. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and one sister and brother in law, Sharon (Kenneth) George.
Pat graduated from Costa Catholic High School and attended Carl Sandburg College, majoring in Agriculture. Pat was a lifelong farmer, also working as a custodian at Knoxville High School from 1991 to 1995, he then worked at Butler Mfg. until 2000 when he went to work for Blick Art Materials until 2012.
Pat was a faithful catholic and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and served for several years as an extra ordinary minister. Pat served on the first team with TECH (Teens Encounter Christ) when it returned to Galesburg. He also enjoyed visiting group homes and nursing homes in Galesburg. He was involved with Knox County Right to Life and the Christian Family Movement. In his younger years, Pat was active in 4-H, Town and Country Singles, and the Knox County Farm Bureau Young Farmers. Pat served in the Army National Guard for several years. Most of all, Pat enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events.
Public visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A public graveside service for all to attend will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Rev. Father William T.
