Caroline J. Krug, 87, of Cameron, IL, formerly of Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2020 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.   

She was born on October 30, 1932 in Lake Forest, IL, the daughter of Harold C. and Florence E. (Harris) Higgins.  She was raised and educated in Lake Bluff, IL and graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1950.   

Caroline married Donald D. Krug on April 18, 1953 in Lake Bluff, IL; he preceded her in death on March 10, 2020.  

Caroline worked at the Lake Forest Bank for several years.  She later worked at Monmouth Trust & Savings in Monmouth for over 20 years, working as a teller and later a customer service representative in the trust department.  Caroline and Don owned and operated “The Knot Hole” woodworking business for 10 years.  She was a member of the Kirkwood Westminster Presbyterian Church.  Caroline enjoyed sewing and playing dominos.  She enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and the First United Methodist Church Resale Shop in Hobe Sound, FL.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends in Washington Island, WI and Lakeside Village in Hobe Sound, FL. 

Surviving Caroline are her children, Dean (Kathy) Krug of Platte City, MO, Cheryl (Dennis) Bulat of Elkhorn, WI, Crystal (Thomas) Sargent of Cameron, IL; grandchildren, Tara (Rob) Carr, Darren (Bobbi) Krug, Justin (Carrie) Luppino, Garret (Sara) Luppino, Bryan (Cindy) Bulat, Kelly Drake, Jamie (Adam) Bulat, T.J. (Kate) Sargent, Cate (Garrett) Scholl, Cori Sargent, and fourteen great grandchildren.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Krug, and infant son, Dale Thomas Krug. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family service will be held.  Memorials can be made to the Kirkwood Westminster Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, IL.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
