Monmouth-Roseville senior Jakob Thomas signed his letter of intent to continue his football career at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. The 6-4 Thomas played linebacker and defensive end for Monmouth-Roseville and was selected as a team captain his senior year this past fall. He was selected to the Three Rivers All-Conference defensive team in his final two seasons as a Titan. Thomas led the Titans in total tackles and solo tackles his junior and senior years. Among the 153 total tackles for both seasons was an amazing 42 tackles for loss. Monmouth-Roseville head coach, Jeremy Adolphson asked Thomas to play both sides of the football during his senior year, placing him on the offensive line. All Thomas did was also make the Three Rivers All-Conference team on offense, as well. He’ll be entering a successful FCS football program at ISU that went (10-5) overall last season, losing to North Dakota State in the National quarterfinals. The Redbirds and NDSU are a part of the same Missouri Valley Football Conference that includes Western Illinois as well. ISU hosts Western on October 24th.
