Under Governor Pritzker’s Phase 3 Restore Illinois Plan, only groups up to ten are allowed to gather and moving into Phase 4 by next month, gatherings of up to 50 are allowed. With those restrictions, the big summer events put on by the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce have been tentatively cancelled. Executive Director Amy Patterson is working on scaling down a few of the events:
“If things open up sooner than that, we might have a scaled down version of Baconfest or Christmas on the Square. Those are kind of my two events that I am looking at how differently we can do them, how maybe we can have a mini event. For Baconfest, we need to have restaurants, and I know restaurants have been hit hard, so if the restaurants can’t bring us bacon food, it will be hard to have Baconfest. We will just have to see how things jump back and pop back. Pottery on the Square we were really excited to be moved out to the museum, but we are still having our commemorative,” Patterson states.
The Farmer’s Market will be open on Fridays starting this week from 7 am to 1 pm in the Fortress Bank parking lot.
