If Father’s Day 2019 is any indication, many local Illinois businesses struggling to make their way forward in the wake of the pandemic are about to get a much-needed cash infusion.
That’s because the week of Father’s Day tends to be one of the top 10 weeks of the year for consumer spending at local restaurants, golf courses, grocery stores, and sporting goods stores.
This is just one finding from new data analysis from Womply – a small business software company. The data science team at Womply analyzed transaction data for every day of the year for 2019 at over 70,000 local businesses across the country to identify the impact of Father’s Day on consumer behavior and economic trends (click here for full analysis). Here’s what we found.
In terms of consumer spending, Father’s Day 2019 saw the following:
- No. 2 week of the year for restaurants
- Consumer spending was up 61% compared to the average day.
- No. 5 week of the year for golf courses
- Consumer spending was up 228% compared to the average day.
- No. 6 week of the year for grocery stores
- Consumer spending was up 42% compared to the average day.
- No. 5 week of the year for sporting goods stores
- Consumer spending was up 4% compared to the average day.
